As head of Global Supply Chain Management in Novartis Pharma AG, Kurt is responsible for optimizing the global demand & supply planning as well as global order fulfillment processes.
His operational responsibilities include management of the Basel based supply chain functions: Brand Pipeline & Supply Project Management, Artwork Operations, Global Material Master Management, Turntable Operations as well as the SCM Operations units in affiliated companies, Pharmaceutical and Chemical Operations.
Kurt joined Novartis in 1984, where he started as Chemical Production planner. He worked several years on the development of materials management best practices in affiliated companies and pharmaceutical plants around the world, before he became project manager of the supply chain set-up within the southern European supply concept. Kurt was head of Pharmaceutical Production in Spain when the new plant was put into operation, responsible for the closing of the old sites and the start-up of the new production. After his return to Basel he has various operational and project assignments in Supply Chain Management.
Kurt earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemical Engineering and worked as a process engineer before joining Novartis. He is married and has two daughters.
